Thanks for visiting! I am an associate professor of philosophy at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. Here, you'll find links to papers I've published as well as some works in process. I have three main areas of research.

1. Philosophy of language
I develop a position that draws on resources in ecological psychology and speech act theory to develop a view in which communication isn't a matter of transmitting information between minds. 

2. Philosophy of mind
​I work with Joe Vukov on metaphysics of mind. We develop a view on causal powers in mind that can do a lot of cool work in philosophy of psychology. 

3. Social epistemology
I've worked on implicit racial biases a bit. These days, I'm interested in what agent-based modeling and data analysis can tell us about believers in groups and about group belief. 

I have a wonderful spouse and two incredible children with whom I enjoy going for hikes around Spokane. I'm also an amateur (stress: amateur) bread-baker and weight-lifter.
